After rescuing two cats 7 years ago; it never gets old.

Amazing how many people have been rescued, by the animals they “rescue”.

I have 2 feral cats and 2 abandoned cats. They thank me every day in many ways

2 dogs that were given to me as 6 week old pups by their “grandparents”, and a rescue cat who actually runs the household!

4 cats. One of them I got as a kitten. The other three were abandoned, and taken from a parking lot, a vacant lot, and a rooftop.

Every pet I’ve had for the last 40 years has been a rescue of one sort or another.

There is nothing wrong with buying a purebred either. As a breeder of purebred German shepherds for over 40 years, I can tell you that there are people who just want a certain type, or just want to know what they’re getting. Purebreds are just as loving as rescues!

I wonder…where did Capt’ Eddie get Paulie?

If a certain someone had only adopted one shelter cat or dog, he would have accomplished more of significance during his first 100 days than if he were given 100 years in office.

My cat rescued himself — long story, but he rode home (long trip) in the engine compartment of my car. He was unhurt, and just moved in as if he’s always known this was his home.

The little dog on the back of the couch looks a bit like the one we rescued a few years ago. He was abandoned in our rural neighborhood and was to scared to let anyone touch him until I was able to coax him into the outside dog run with a bowl of food. Now he’s a happy, loving pup who just needed proper training and love.

I love this! All of the animals I’ve had since I’ve lived on my own have been rescues

…and mess, and noise, and begging, and vet bills, and ………

A little off topic but, speaking of the little dog on the back of the couch, what’s happened to Petey?

Truth in advertising!

I’ve had some cats who adopted me. Just walked in like they owned the place. (And, of course, they soon did.) Thanks for all the shared stories today, everyone. Thanks for the strip, Wiley.

We’ve had(have) 4 Purebred and 2 Rescue dogs, over the years. Love ’em all just the same.

Of all of the animals that have shared my life, I have to say that my rescue critters were my favorites and some of the most memorable.

I’ve rescued dogs, cats, horses, a racoon, and even an ocelot ! They all have a special place in my heart.

A feral cat started hanging around my acreage in Alberta. Wonderful mouser! Did not want kittens so I cat trapped her and brought her to the vet so she would be fixed. The vet knew she was feral so when it came time to pick her up the vet, the assistant and I plotted a way to open her cage and get her back into the trap. Have you ever seen leather gloves that go up to one’s shoulder? At any rate, upon opening the cage, she eluded us, bounced off the floor and ended up back in the trap, purring loudly. She eventually became a real indoor-outdoor pussy cat.

dogs: 1 adopted, 1 found, 1 given. cats: 3 found, 2 adopted. all loved!

I had a ‘move in’ cat recently. We lost him from an illness that was passed to him, from his queen. (We believe it was FIP) He lasted 3 years but until the very end he was a delight.

76 years old always a dog by my side. The best dog in my life is the rescue I got four years ago.

A much better way to spend 100 days.

May I share this with the the rescue group i am a member of, and through whom our family have adopted?

YES!

My favorite dog was my first personal dog. A backyard bred Golden Retriever. Chevalier Mal Fet, I called him Lance. We trained in hand signals, whistle and voice command. I went to a field trial and the vet I was using at the time had his Labs in the event. He asked me what I thought of those dogs I told him that I hadn’t seen anything my dog couldn’t do, just not as flashy. He doubted me, and I bet him $100 (that I didn’t have to spare) took my dog to his training ground and put him through the course. and just to show off I had him do a triple blind water and grass. The Doc paid me but told me I ought to find a different vet. I did.I’ve had several dogs since lymphoma got him 30 years ago and I miss my dog.

We’ve rescued 11 cats, got one from the vet’s office and got one of our fosters through the Humane Society back, and feed 8 more-3 here at home and I feed a colony out by work. A few years ago we also rescued a Pittie who was severely neglected at 27 pounds. Nursed her back to health & kept her around until cancer took her from us about 2 years ago. ‘Vicious’ dog my foot.
