Ah, but the rent ‘has’ been paid, hasn’t it …?

That’s right, Big Margie, just lay out the motive for Tracy! Why did you donate that money if was going to mean that the rent goes unpaid?

Her face in P2 looks suspicious in her expression. More satisfied than anything else.

So, I’ve been thinking about it and I suppose they had to come up with the money a second time to pay the winner and then they are getting money back from the insurance. Otherwise, I don’t see how they are going to get back money they gave away to the contest winner.

So, Tracy has a legitimate reason to be there other than observing the Margies. They probably won’t suspect that he suspects (if he does).

Gee, that’s funny. She donated three thousand dollars she’s going to need to pay the rent, so why’d she donate it? It’s almost as if she was expecting to get it back before the rent came due.

And why is she going to be reimbursed by the insurance company? She made a donation to the convention, so it was the convention’s money that was stolen, not hers. The insurance company should be paying the $10 K straight back to Brian, so he could present it to the contest winner on behalf of the convention. Big Margie shouldn’t be expecting a dime. (Of course, if she and Brian do get their money back, he’s going to expect her to re-donate the three grand to make up the prize money which they’ll finally present.)

Don’t worry about the rent, Big Margie. Once Tracy solves this case, you and your cousins will have a new place to live – the State Penitentiary.

I thought, as a general rule, insurance companies don’t cover stolen cash?

Margie is one smooth operator. However, I believe that Tracy or Sam or both are laying a cleverly laid trapdoor catch the Margies.

She looks plain guilty in P2.

Missed when the rent is due? If she had legitimately donated the $3000, she wouldn’t have had it, either. The robbery wasn’t a loss to her, it was a loss to the con.

What does Tracy have up his sleeve, besides his arm and his Wrist Wizard?

I’ve gotten used to good-looking chickadees in this strip over the years. This family is coyote ugly! Their gene pool needs to get flushed! On another subject, I’d ask Puzz to respect Av09; he’s earned it with his intellect and insight.

Having donated $3000 to Brian Miller as part of the cos con prize, in effect the 3 Margies Costumes company has gained a 30% stake in the convention contest. That is, the Margies are business partners with Brian. That, I think, is how they qualify for re-couping their $3K loss from the insurance payout to the CosUCon business entity (as represented by Brian).

Tracy now has some threads he can track, IF, and that’s a big if, he deems it worth his time. But I don’t know that the rental history of the cousins’ costume shop has caught his attention! I hope it has, but it seems he’d have to have some reason to suspect them before he would want to explore that angle. We’ll see….
