    Incidently, there’s a book titled ‘Newtonian Physics’ so I guess it does exist. I don’t understand the difference so much though. Physics and mechanics should be unified.

    Classical (Newtonian) mechanics is a part of physics, as are quantum mechanics, electrostatics, electrodynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, magnetics, optics and so on. By using the term “physics” for both “mechanics” disciplines, I think he’s emphasizing the whole mindset by which we approach physical problems. These are two paradigms that affect how we look at the entire field of physics. The witty dialog has always been my main attraction to this strip, but I think Scott got a little tired by the last panel. The punch line seems weak to me. Not that I have any right to complain…I couldn’t even think up a topic much less explore it as he does.
