I’ve been to the acropolis of Pergamum twice. Both times, under the giant cedar tree at the old temple of Zeus, time stood still while the breeze blew though the tree branches.
One of my favorite Gabriel songs. A fanciful account of his quitting Genesis. And though they did a lot of great music together, it was ultimately a good thing for music fans that he did quit. Not only did we get his solo career, where he did a lot of stuff he couldn’t have as part of the band, but Genesis went on to make plenty of great music with Phil Collins on vocals (despite the flak they got – and occasionally still get – from some narrow-minded listeners).

Hey, I live near to Solsbury Hill, and to Peter’s Real World Studios! Himself used to volunteer there and met any number of amazing people.

I love how “Solisbury Hill” keeps to a strict ABAB rhyme scheme without making it sound forced. It’s a fine piece of lyric writing.

I like Jef’s artwork, especially the frame reflecting Caulfield’s point regarding wind. Too tired to be more clear, myself. ;-) Anyone else see it?

I’m embarrassed to say how many years I thought he was singing “Salisbury (like steak!) Hill.”

Time is what makes things not happen all at once. (I don’t know whose quote I just stole.)
