This is fascinating. So much info about the riot, the town, the reporters (Ben E. Drake?)—-the return of two familiar characters at last—-and interest in what seems at the moment like the lesser story…

What’s new about a food shortage? I mean, they always seem to have cans of beans and little else. Seems like that qualifies as a food shortage. Oh wait, it’s a comic.

That “crap” is the reason for all the news on page one. Besides, where’s all the tobacco coming from?

Am I to imply that His Honor knows something about the disappearance of the porcine residents of Endtown that we aren’t yet privy to?

    Food shortages lead to cannibalism.

Jacob: “I’ve said over and over that there’s LOTS of food! Butt loads of food! Crap loads of food! We’re just doling it out slowly to make the anticipation bring out the flavor. Why don’t you news people listen to me?”

Remember when Aaron said Jackrabbit was going to be vital to Endtown’s future? Now I’m thinking he was talking about the city needing another pariah to pin all the blames on, then summarily execute him just like they did with ol’ pandaguy.

Would be pretty creepy and all if the story’s going in that direction, but this hapening to Sr. Fluffybuns, Corrupt Politician? Seems alright~

Is Jacob pissed off because the food shortage exists, or because the newspaper published a story about it?

Or maybe that it’s buried on page 5…..

I’d like to see what definition of “peaceful” involves throwing a cop like a sack of potatoes. I’m also wondering if he’s upset that the article on food shortage is so small and hard to find, or that despite all of the distractions nobody is forgetting about their bigger problems like getting enough food.

It depends on what you classify as food. Mallard might be producing plenty of vitamin cake.

Excellent graphic work today! I love the combination of the newspaper and partial view of the mayor’s angry face. Also awesome: the newspaper photo has pain stars shooting up from someone who’s getting clubbed. Imagine cameras that would let us do that in today’s news media. Excessive use of force by police might go down.

Maybe they have almost depleted the supply of beans. It was a finite supply. Seems like way back a long time ago way back when, they were having to go farther and farther to haul said beans home. They shot ld h ave made hydroponics a priority from day 1. Too bad there is no where to grow a grain crop of some kind. If all the little communities could grow rice or wheat or corn or barley, or oats and they could trade.. but then the Topsiders sou ld grab their crops.I can’t imagine eating what’s left of their cannibalistic crap can be scientifically healthy or tasty.I don’t remember What they did eat, just that it must have involved with what was leftover after they used “brains” for their “computers”. They would sure be violently rioting if their water supply became compromised.

That sounds bad. As if he’s found a fix for the food shortage. But if the cure involves disappearing swine…then how is he processing the “volunteers” and distributing to the population?
