‘twas Gordon’s idea in the first place; Michael was just going along with it

Going along with it is tried and true to let things go they would not do other wise.

Eh, Gordon? “We meant no harm?” What did you think would happen? The spider would get zapped and survive? Thank God you didn’t put Liz in there. Or Farley. Shows poor thinking skills, that goes for you, too, Mike.

I’d probably grab Mike by the shirt and give him the stinkeye too, if he were my kid and the circumstances were the same.

That expression in panel three seems about right

Kids that age don’t really think about the consequences of their actions. That comes with age and experience of living with those consequences.

Before anyone asks why both Gordon and Michael are both talking at the same time in Panel 3, I’d like to explain how it’s probably meant to be read:

Michael: “It was just an experiment — honest!”

Gordon: “We didn’t mean any harm!”

I love the smile that’s glued on Elizabeth’s face.

As I recall, there was an article one time where a lady put a small dog in the microwave to dry it off after a bath. Bad outcome!

In my home, we cover our food (usually with a paper towel) when using the microwave. Because you just never know when a spider might be in there awaiting its last meal.

Its been found that you can use microwaves to torture. Set at a certain frequency train the invisible rays on a rowdy crowd and they suddenly feel on fire. Crowd control can lead to the Agony Booth. You suffer, yet not marks. Just the feeling your body is burning up.

Like she doesn’t squash them any time she sees one.

There is a Brazilian spider so powerful it can bite through a boot!

I simply love your daily comics however I am moved to tell you to pull this one. As a teacher I know students who seem to have a disposition to harm animals and have actually heard they tried putting hamsters, etc in a microwave Please do not make this look as an acceptable practice. I suggest you follow this up with a cartoon that stipulates this.

My comment was deleted from this day. It said something like:

While Lizzie is happy to incriminate Gordon and Mike in the second panel, it is only Mike who has the backbone to stop Elly from microwaving the spider in panel 1. He gets no credit for that. In fact, Elly grabs him by the shirt as if she is ready to beat him senseless in panel 3, only to have Gordon step up to stop her. As much as Gordon likes to torture insects, apparently he does hate the idea of seeing harm done to his friends.
