Alice: Petey, I'm having an argument with Beni and I need a clarification. Petey: What? Alice: What's the difference between "no duh" and "big duh"? Petey: "No duh" is used to dismiss an assertion as obvious or trite. "Big duh" is used to label an assertion as inconsequential or worthless. Alice: Hey, Beni! NO DUH! Petey: Semantics really should be taught in preschool.

Alice, must all playdates end in competition and tears? Oh yeah, you’re a preschooler. No duh!

I had no idea Petey had mastered the intricacies of semantics! I am impressed. And, indeed, why not fill the minds of three- and four-year-olds with semantics?

Omygosh! I’ve been using it wrong all these years! Now I understand though. I should not put “trite” and “inconsequential” in the same semantics basket. Thank you Petey for saving me from many more years of people laughing at me behind my back.

I told my kids “No duh Sherlock” a while back and they totally cracked up! Must be a golden oldie….

Beni looks intimidated now! Of course, if I had Alice yelling in my face like that, I’d probably be intimidated, too.

Ottod: Can we vote more than once? (Oh, wait. Voting is that other comics website.)
Never put into words what can be said with a withering glance.
