Lupin has had a chance to see fireworks through the window a couple of times, and he has been pretty enchanted by the beautiful lights and shimmers both times. (Elvis, Puck, and Baby… Not so much!)
Happy 4th, everyone!! I hope everyone has a fun, safe day! I will be making potato salad and trying to keep Elvis calm. (He and I are not big fans of neighborhood fireworks, sigh. They make him anxious, very close to the comic!) The Man and I marathon the ‘Rocky’ movies every 4th, and I’m going to see if the kids want to make some glitter fireworks with glue on paper in the morning. I hope you and yours have a terrific day!
Cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chips, baked beans, and watermelon here. Oh yes, some red, white, and blue patriotic cupcakes. Later we will watch “A Capitol Fourth” on PBS so the music will offset the fireworks noise around here.
Happy July 4th to the neighbours to the south!! I may go watch the fireworks across the bay tonight, I can always hear the booms from my house but rarely watch them
Going to hit the pool this afternoon—inland So Cal is going to be HOT this week! We’ll watch fireworks on TV rather than going out—I’m with Elvis and Puck on this one. The “fuzzy fire spiders” are pretty to see but I don’t like the BANG BOOM BANG! We’ve had people setting off firecrackers in the neighborhood since the 1st (celebrating Canada Day, mayhaps?) and I’m not looking forward to the racket tonight. Jingle Belle Katt doesn’t seem to mind much, although she does look up with a “What was THAT???” expression when there is a BOOM and she sometimes runs to the window to see what is going on. I feel sorry for the feral cats in our complex who can only cower in the bushes while the racket is going on…
I worked the fireworks in my town last night, so I got my fix then. The neighborhood’s a bit quieter this year than it has been in the past, which is good. There was a year or two when someone on our street was setting off fireworks for weeks around this time. My guys are usually okay (they’ve been indoors long enough that thunder and fireworks don’t usually upset them), but some friends up the street have an awful time with their poor dog.

Of course, Lupin cannot hear them so he will would not be scared.

My cat isn’t deaf and enjoys watching fireworks and thunderstorms! She doesn’t like the vacuum cleaner though. ;-)

Personally, I like to think of them as Space Anemones. Enjoy, Lupin!
