    Only an arrogant douche would NOT thank someone for their time helping them make a purchase. But then, that’s what we have taught them.

    It seems like “Thank you for your service” has become as cliche as “Have a nice day”. But . . . at least it’s not as bad as the reception I got when I came home from Viet Nam.

    My wife and I make it a point to thank people by name if they are wearing a name tag. It takes most cashiers or the guy roaming the warehouse at the hardware store by surprise.

    In a world where people not only take other people for granted, but actually feel entitled to be rude and abusive towards them, it makes a tiny difference.
