Art wise, panel 2 is a mystery to me with Annie’s suddenly unexplained weight gain. Annie looks about 50 pounds lighter in Panels 1, 3 and 4. Why is Annie noticeably heavier in just one panel? Is it some kind of strange binary message of 1011?
As for the final panel, did Elly run the water in the sink and make a mess on the floor to show Annie that the sink was leaky? I think most people would have believed Elly without the demonstration.
Creating storylines for the strip allowed me to go back and forth between child and grownup. As Elly, I would live in the moment; talk about the day-to-day things a mom might deal with. As Michael, entering junior high school, I would become a teenager again. It doesn’t take much to open up those difficult, exciting, passionate, and intensely private times. Try it. Take yourself back to grade 8 and see how much you remember. When adults dismiss teenagers as being “just kids,” we are forgetting how brilliant, aware, creative and fragile we were.
What can go wrong with a sink? I know John’s got the mechanical ability of a rock; but a sink is one of the easier plumbing things in this life to fix.
It looks as if it is leaking where the drain trap connects to the pipes. Failure to use some sort of lubricant, sealant, or adhesive (commonly refered to as “pipe dope”) when connecting together pipe or drain components can lead to leaks! Or simply not tightening the rings will do the same thing.

John better not touch that sink and do the repairs for free.

So they can’t such the water off for that area in the kitchen?
