Moe will probably feel nostalgic about this in his future.

Moe represents life’s struggles and Calvin represents us in those struggles.

Great quote albeit quite sad. They mostly forgot about these things.

Yes, I recall similar experiences from grade 5 all the way through high school.

My work colleagues now wonder why I am so aggressive….

29 years after leaving high school, still haven’t been to a single reunion of any kind, the memories are still too fresh.

The distance that facebook provides is about as close as I’m willing to go.

The nostalgic people could probably fight much better as kids, Calvin!

Those who talk about the “sweet voices” of children have never heard them sing in groups, either.

Bullies weren’t the biggest problem, Nuns with their yardsticks and blackboard pointers were devastating. We were too young (1949 to 1957) to know it was wrong. It got so bad the Parish replaced them with civilians. The good news is; the Military was a piece-a-cake compared to grade school.

Went to a reunion once. Many of the guys I went to school with were either dead or in jail. I recognized one girl who had graduated and went to work for the school and one teacher who had stuck around the city long enough to attend a reunion. I’ve seen more folks I knew spread out around my province than at reunions.

Anybody who thinks little kids don’t have problems just as bad as adults simply has a very poor memory.

The temptation to resent Moe is great, but think about the nightmare that is probably his home and compare that to Calvin’s verdant wonderland. Now, who is truly being punished?

When I think back, I don’t think high school was the greatest time. Didn’t go to a class reunion until over 30 years later and to my great surprise, I had a good time, and was one of the last ones to leave. However, most of the yahoos that I didn’t want to see weren’t there anyway, and the ones that didn’t talk to me in school still didn’t talk to me. Didn’t lose any sleep over it and had a good time nevertheless.

One of the reasons I love this strip so much is that Calvin’s school experience mirrors mine so closely.

Been there, done that; didn’t like it the first time. The bully was bad, the really bad part was we were sent to the office for fighting (it was a rather one-sided fight with a guy who was two years older), and the school secretary looked at me and asked “Why can’t you just get along with people?” In later years I figured out what was going on: I wasn’t the bully’s only target, and they already knew there was no way to reach him (something like his father saying “Beatin’ up punk kids? That’s ma boy!”). He did eventually get expelled…

Why is Moe’s dialogue rendered in upper and lower case? I do not recall any other C&H character’s dialogue being rendered in this fashion.

I used to watch this animated Miniseries about bullying. I don’t know when it was made but I really like it and I just hope it encourages children to speak out.

OFF topic, but it just dawned on me:Calvin’s parents are brunette, but Calvin is blonde.

Moe is obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Some day he’ll meet someone bigger and dumber than he.
