Unheard of.
Way back in college, I went to a concert with a (very) lesser-known opening act, where the bass player came unplugged this way during one song and took a couple of minutes to figure it out. Probably the worst opening act I’ve ever seen.

For too long they’ve held the monopoly on long patch cables!
That’s a reason why most pro mikes are wireless now.
