It’s a nice setup to the punchline, but my guess is that more people would recall Elizabeth and forgot about Mary.
Mary didn’t succeed Edward VI, Lady Jane Grey did, the nine-day queen.
When you see a design like that at the top of this strip, one thing comes to mind: Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In (1968-1973).
