John is at home. Since John is a doctor, this means that the doctor he would call is at home. John needs to make the appointment during the day when he is at his office, because when John is at his office, the doctors are in their offices and can receive the call asking for the appointment. I am not sure why John just doesn’t tell her that, except he may too busy thinking to himself, “That’s that last time I have her listen to my heart.”
The sad thing is, all too many adults postpone and postpone, and by the time something is identified, it has progressed much further than necessary. We were lucky my brother didn’t wait with his leukemia symptoms, but my sister postponed her ‘scope to take care of everyone of her kids, our cousins, her neighbor’s kids, and, yeah, she had a large intestinal tumor…
Well I am sort of with John on this one. I my particular case there is no one other than my Boss who will really care anyway. My last significant visit to a physician was for my Discharge Physical in ‘85. My Ex-wife will only care if the checks stop coming. What you don’t know you can’t lie about on insurance forms. Besides which I am already 15 years past the expiration date of those in my old career field since I got out before retirement.
I’ve lost track… was there some medical reason for this other than the realization of how important his heart is? It has always been important, after all.
Wife has been through two rounds of breast cancer – caught early. However, wife of one of my friends waited until the lump was golf-ball sized. She’s now missing one.
People! If you have an unusual “spot” on your body, go to a dermatologist (Not a PA in his office) and get it checked out!! Too late, Hubby ended up with metastatic melanoma.
A friend had a series of benign cysts in her breast. The doctor advised a mastectomy “just to be safe.” She had the surgery and silicon implants. Then the silicon killed her…

“If I were,” not “If I was.” “If I was” would only be correct if you were referring to one specific episode in the past.
