Cokes, candy bars, and Moon Pies all were a nickel in the early 60’s.

When I was young (late 50’s) a bottle of soda pop was 5cents, 7 if you took the bottle with you.

It was a local bottler, Bars Better Beverage, and it was good.

dkram- I remember that 5-cent soda, but not the bottle charge. The last time I bought a 5-cent soda was in summer 1968. Now, in a vending machine anyway, 50 cents is good price.

When I was in high school, we could buy colored TP for a nickle. We left some very colorful yards. I haven’t seen it colored in years. We also used rye grass seed and spread it in yards in the form of words. Rye grass seeds sprouted in a week and was a different shade of green than the yard grass, so it showed up good and was hard to get rid of. An you thought I had a halo under my headdress! My feathers are not wings.

My Irish grandmother was said to have tied two cat’s tails together with a rope and hung them over some house’s door knob one Halloween.

at 5 cents each there were several that pooled they’re money to get tthat much toliit paper & then King Fink got some of that money back in sales tax. Plus knowing that cheapskate he had Rodney reroll it so he could use it in the Royal Bath room.
