    Actually, people DID complain about books in the same way they now complain about electronic devices. They said it would ruin their ability to remember, that they would be lost to reality, they they would never pay attention to people….

    Comic books were investigated by Congress once upon a time for the bad influence they were supposedly having on the nation’s youth. Then it was TV, music, and video games. This happens with social trends as well. People who complain about the “so-called music kids listen to these days” would do well to remember that folks once spoke of rock and roll in the same terms, and the waltz was once called devil’s music by preachers back when it was that new thing that young people did.
