A friend of mine got exempted from the draft (Vietnam era) because, due to a joint injury, he couldn’t straighten the little finger of his right hand. Apparently if you couldn’t salute an officer properly, you were unfit for military service.
Today’s vocabulary lesson: Pea-wet is the residual water from mushy peas (a Yorkshire staple food). Google yields nothing on Bob Crabley, though. I suspect he’s fictional.
