The electoral college has outlived it’s usefulness. It was set up so people who lived so far apart and away from voting stations would have representation. It is no longer needed and should have been eliminated many election cycles ago.
Nation lost its shirts and shorts when those two ******’s were nominated by their respective parties for the position of President of the United States.
The idea of the Electoral College was that it is the states who elect the President with each state having one vote per congressional district plus one vote per senator. The problem with it is that each state decides how its votes are cast. Some states are all or nothing, others are proportional. And now there is a movement for states to enter into a contract to cast their votes for the winner of the popular vote in all of the United States. My idea is that we can preserve the concept of the Electoral College if the following rules were applied. 1) Each congressional district vote will be based upon the popular vote of that district. 2) Since Senators represent the entire state, their votes will be based upon the popular vote of the entire state.
So you’re saying that a large proportion of the populace get disenfranchised solely because they are a large proportion of the populace? I’m afraid that doesn’t make any sense to this foreigner!

…..that the only way republicans can win the presidency is through one, and hence, we’ll be stuck with it for a long time.

It is time to get rid of the electoral college. Everyone’s vote should count. E-mail your Congressman.

The “no panty raid” part may be an unwarranted conclusion.
