Thank goodness for the ACLU. I’m a big supporter and donate regularly. Fighting for civil liberties is rarely popular—but it is the right thing to do. The con job we get from the right wing is anti-liberty, and profoundly unAmerican. The cons seem to be against everything positive and to celebrate evil and amorality in the process. I guess if your a con it seems natural to be negative.
The ACLU exists to protect the Constitution. Period. Regardless of what that protections requires, regardless of whether that protection works to favor left or favor right. If you don’t like the ACLU, you don’t want to protect the Constitution.
