TV: And now back to bachelor horror cinema, and "Return of the Ex-Girlfriend". ? Ding-dong.
Jon: Don't answer it! Don't answer it!
TV: I WANT MY CHAFING DISH BACK!!
Jon: YAAAHH!
Garfield: I miss the days of three channels.
according to wiki
A chafing-dish (from the Old French chauffer, “to make warm”) is a kind of portable grate (“a dish of Coles”) raised on a tripod, originally heated with charcoal in a brazier, and used for foods that require gentle cooking, away from the fierce heat of direct flames.

I have a little over 60 channels I get from my cable company, and they now all act like network tv, for every hour show they show 20 minutes of commercials
Rise22 …. ditto. I would prefer to only pay for just the HD channels, but to do so requires paying for the basic channels first, and then the premium channels, before you can get the HD channels. What a rip-off !
Plus, getting internet and IP phone bundled in helps to a degree in keeping cost down, but I am seriously considering disconnecting entirely except for internet. Just to see what channels I can get on just an antenna …. Sigh !
I agree, Rise22! I’m not subscribing until they do, either. (Haven’t ever had it for that reason. Between a DVD player and high-speed internet, I can watch what I really want and need without paying for cable or satellite TV.)
I remember getting our first TV and only having one station. That didn’t last long, but for a while, they carried selections from each network, including Dumont.

Does Jon have exes? I thought all his dates, before Liz, lasted less than ten minutes.

Here a riddle: Cut the cable (or drop the dish) and you’ll be free again. Figure it out.

Ten minutes with Jon can probably go a very long way with some. Halloween would be a great time to return some of the same!

I really wish the cable/satellite companies would go “ala carte,” so we only got (and paid for) what we WANTED.

Close taker48. It’s actually 16 minutes. All of the one hour shows we DVR are 44 minutes long. Ain’t technology wonderful?

Back in the early 60s when I was finishing up at Ohio State, I worked summers at one of the only three TV stations. The slogan was
This is WLW-C, first in Columbus channel 3 A television service of the nation’s station The Crosley Broadcasting Corpioration.
Anyone else go back that far?
