    You have to actually get into good condition to do anything as strenuous and prolonged as climbing, well, anything.

    I’m strong, fit, and reasonably healthy for my age, and just hiking up a mountain last summer took a lot out of me

    I’m 65. Walk 2-3 miles every day. Logged in 100 miles in August. Now if I could just lose 20 lbs.

    I was in Alaska last summer on a glacier tour and the captain of the boat was pointing out solid rock faces as we went up Prince William Sound, saying, That glacier disappeared in ’07, and that one in ’11, and that one… See the green? Yeah the plants start taking over within a few years. Every single glacier, valley or mountain, was less than it had been when he was growing up. He pulled up to one that calved right in front of us.
