Forget it, Rudy. Amazon has created more sales and support jobs than it has indirectly eliminated. It’s now the third or fourth largest employer in the U.S., and when it adds the 100,000 jobs it’s planning in the next year, to say nothing of the half million jobs at its planned second HQ, it will be the second largest employer, behind only WalMart. So don’t sweat “lives ruined.” Just think of all the lives improved by all those jobs.
I had to re read this three times to really get it. Nice! (But I wonder if the average quick punchline reader / non-Catholic-upbringing person will have the patience!) … Again, I suggest — single panel => New Yorker. Ya got the stuff!
“Amazon pays its warehouse employees 15% less on average than the prevailing wage of other warehouse workers in the same region, and it is experimenting widely with ways, such as temporary and on-demand employment, to erode job security.”
“Because its technology can closely monitor worker productivity, Amazon takes surveillance and goals to a higher, grueling level.”

A “customer service” voice without an Indian accent? That just does not happen in America.

I’m not sure he’s turned into Saint Jobs wherever he is, but it couldn’t hurt. Amazon is great, but I love to support what brick-and-mortars I can.
