Correct; it was the Irish who used turnips to make jack-o-lanterns. You get a gold star! :)

I had to work for this joke. John asks if it is modeled after anyone we know, when it is obviously modeled off the Mr. Potato Head toy. Then you have the hint that it is the Mr. Potato Head toy by showing Michael as a couch potato. Couch potato = Mr. Potato Head = Mr. Vegetable Head.

Boy, is this one not funny.

Jack’s lanterns, made from turnips or large beets were around long before the European invasion of the western hemisphere, where pumpkins were ‘discovered.’

Ah, the original jack o’lantern.

I get the joke but it just doesn’t work.

Michael has a double chin in the third panel. Time to turn off the tube and get some exercise.

John shouldn’t have made that remark. In three days, Michael will get his revenge. Wait for it.

People are really over-thinking this one. It’s “Mister Vegetable Head,” Michael is vegging-out on the couch and John taps the punch line home. Finish.
