Michelangelo didn’t really want to do the Sistine Chapel, but he did get his revenge. I’ll leave it to the viewer to figure out how.

Ahh, the wracking self-doubt of the creative artist. And the hallucinations (probably due to not eating regularly or well). Forge on, Monty.

Well, according to Monty Python, the Pope did put some restrictions on Michelangelo’s artistic license: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9Aj7W3g1qo

Amazingly enough, this was based on a real incident involving a real 16th century painting (The Feast in the House of Levi), though the actual artist was Paolo Veronese, not Michelangelo. His explanations at an interrogation by the Inquisition are obviously the basis for Monty Python’s skit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Feast_in_the_House_of_Levi
