The fear of being labeled a racist can be a pretty powerful motivator. Whether the label is true or not.

This strip seems to be going to the dogs.

Actually, his point is better than you might expect. I doubt that there is any new paper (of any kind) coming into Endtown. So every sheet is precious.

And then there is the question of who had the foresight to stockpile newspaper to start with. And just how much? And do they recycle? Does the newspaper come in big rolls as it does for big newspapers? Or smaller sheets?

Right now, Dottie’s probably wondering what she got herself into.

Being a do-gooder means that, at the very least, in your own mind, you are doing good. Dottie knows, mentally, what doing good looks like, and this isn’t it.

Threat of violence in the name of anti-racism. Sounds like Antifa.

That’s a large part of today’s anti-intellectual movements: some, or most, groups think the only way they groups can get their point across is to threaten and then actually engage in violence.

Wink at the end is supposed to reassure Dottie that he’s not REALLY threatening Mr Hopper, just a little play acting to move the process along. Dottie’s got a big heart, but I always credited her with more brains than she’s engaging so far…. ;-)

I still dearly love this strip, but the community is fast deteriorating into a Dear God Don’t Read The Comments situation.
