Great memories. When I toured Sun Records, I mentioned I wanted to ride the nearby streetcar line downtown. They offered to let me park in the back so my car would be off the street, so I got to park next to the same back door that the likes of Elvis, Johnny, and Jerry Lee would’ve used for a smoke break during sessions. That alone made history come alive for me.

Let’s see: we have Carl Perkins (“Go Cat Go”); Jerry Lee Lewis “The Killer”; Elvis, Scotty, and Bill; Johnny Cash; Billy Lee Riley (“Red Hot”); Charlie Rich, Howlin’ Wolf, and Rufus Thomas. Sam Philips and Marion Kiesker (the first one to record Elvis) on the guitar.

Does anyone know who the partial one in the lower left of the first panel is? It looks like it says “boy” or “roy,” but it doesn’t look like Roy Orbison.

I recently saw a presentation of “Heartbreak Hotel” with a friend at a local playhouse. Colonel Tom Parker was the best performance (and that’s saying a lot, the show overall was great). He was the character you just LOVED to hate!

Elvis was one of the greats, but I sided with Homer and Jethro. Anyone else remember their version – Heartbreak Motel?
