Remember that life in this universe changes on Sunday and what happens in the daily comic strip no longer applies. In the daily comic strip, Elly doesn’t throw leftovers in the trash. She eats them herself and talks about how she can’t give them to Farley because it will make him fat. Then she complains about how she can’t seem to lose weight.
That doesn’t happen today, because today is Sunday.
I make sure the cat stays out of leftovers, onion is really bad for cats and I don’t want him getting into anything that may have had contact with onion.
Our dog Willy would wait until we had finished eating before he dug into his kibble. If there was the smallest chance of leftovers, he wanted to be sure he had room. I did this strip with compassion and understanding—I wouldn’t want to eat the same thing everyday either!

Storing garbage in the house is a terrific way to get vermin.

Having the discipline to not feed your dog table scraps is a very hard thing to do! Growing up, my family and I were never able to stick with it.

It looks like she’s dumping that into a trash compactor. They were THE thing to have in a late 80’s kitchen.

Poor, Farley! He was expecting to get their dinner, not his dog food.

The story of my life. All the good stuff is so close, then snatched away.

Our dog would wolf down her dog food and then beg (and not receive) the table scraps.
