Fortunately, where I live, the show is on the “Space Channel”. Overall, I like the show. It does bother me that they ended the first 3 episodes with cliffhangers. It reminds me of those old kids’ adventure shows that always left the characters in suspense, which is rather gimmicky.
The cost of streaming Star Trek: Discovery even at the commercial free price is less than I pay to download episodes of such series as Game of Thrones, Homeland, or Handmaid’s Tale from iTunes and I don’t have to wait months or even a year before they become available. Would I prefer Discovery to be part of my cable package? Absolutely, but at least its competitive with other high quality shows and so far its been worth it, especially as I watch each episode twice in one week. It’s darker than previous Star Trek series, both thematically and cinematically but so is today’s world, and there is still hope for a brighter future.

It’s a soapy space opera…and I like it. It’s not very Treky, though.

Fractal? Multiverse? What do those two unfamiliar terms have to do with streaming TV shows? Anyone?

The best Star Trek on now? “The Orville” of course.
