Well Jon I think you have only yourself to blame. How long have you had Garfield? Nearly 40 years? And you still haven’t learned not to hold a book up in front of your meal and expect Garfield not to eat it? More fool you.
I enjoy reading while I eat. But despite being very nearsighted, I have never held a book that close to my face, and certainly didn’t put it between myself and my plate. Has Jon had his eyes checked recently? Perhaps it is time he got some glasses.
