I went through the entire Edgar Rice Burroughs section on the shelf. The Tarzan books are great, and that led into John Carter of Mars. Then up the alphabet to Heinlein
I was like that. I was asthmatic as a kid and mom taught me to read. Even had a “kid’s” library card, but the books I got were put on the number of books for my mom’s card. Mom decided to do something, and asked the librarian how I could get my own card. According to family legend, the librarian looked down he nose at me and sniffed “He has to show he can read”. Mom said to give him a book , which I read and got my own card, much to the annoyance of the librarian. I was 4 YO. Not even in kindergarten yet. I think I learned how to pull off a “GOTCHA” that day….
