Wow! I guess Joel really HAS been abusing Rufus all these years… though as “timeless” characters, maybe it would be easier to think of this as your purgatory, Rufe.

Remember, it’s really hard to die in Gasoline Alley… mwa ha ha ha ha!!

Oh how I miss those days when they used to say decent things on radio and TV that didn’t mention the “H” word. Instead it would just be alternatives like “heck”, “hades”, “purgatory” (like what the poster just mention) or as little kids, our parents told us “the bad place”. Of course, it is mentioned in the Bible and at times in a Shakespearean sense which we accept from time to time.

Maybe the pitchfork made Rufus think he was sent to perdition!

Why would Rufus think seeing Joel means he is in “the other place”? To me it seems again that Rufus is picking on Joel and is being unkind to him as he has been the last several stories.

The Beverly Hillbillies’ Jethro Bodine used to brag about having “a sixth grade edja-kayshun”. But Jethro was a genius compared to Ruthless and Jor-El. They shore do dee-zerv each other….
