Last time I flew to Europe (from the east coast), all the flights left in the evening, so we slept on the plane. Of course, that was more than 20 years ago. I expect things have changed.
Betty (the character) first appeared in an Edmonton (Canada) based / themed comic. This spun off from that. So I’ve always assumed they live in Edmonton, though I doubt it gets mentioned much (if at all) anymore. "Creators Gary Delainey and Gerry Rasmussen first collaborated on the comic strip “Bub Slug” in 1976. The character of Betty appeared in the strip, but was not seen regularly until 1985, when the Edmonton Journal began running a full-page weekly comic version of “Bub Slug.” “Betty” became a stand-alone strip in 1991."

Obviously not from NY. Maybe the midwest?

Forget about flying time, how about the passengers sitting behind them – seats tilted back further than I’ve seen before.

Still need to get up and move around. Sitting in one place for 8 hours is not good for the circulation.
