A new, young pastor experimented at two local churches by dressing like a bum. Complete with long hair, dirty clothes, no showers. He then attended the churches, sat in the back, and waited to see how he would be treated. He wanted to know if people would be welcoming despite his appearance. Afterwards, he wrote an op-ed piece for the newspaper. It was excellent. At one church, he was shunned and ignored. At the other, he was greeted warmly, and offered food and clothing from their pantry.
Homeless I see does dress down, with exception so far of one, man was carrying sign could not read/had his daughter fill in for him she was on smartphone.A former Pastor did this close to our church and young adult woman brought him some food. Others just drove by.Our church usually gets men who wreck of smoke also asks for help.

Why doesn’t he go and find someone who’s actually homeless? I’m sure there’s one or two around.

In Philly, 1 in 4 people live in poverty. It shouldn’t be hard to find the real deal.
