Pucky! Such a gentleman! Even carefully folding his clothes before entering the heat spa!A connoisseur of the good life and gives attention to the smallest detail. If he were human I could see him in Armani suits, at the wheel of a black Jaguar, heading to the finest restaurant for a rendezvous with a stunning date!
Fun fact: When I began my newspaper development deal with GoComics/Universal Uclick, a rough draft of this strip was one of the original 12 dailies I handed in my first month, November of 2014!
By pure coincidence, two of my ferals picked today to switch from sleeping under the deck chairs to sleeping on top of them. First time I’ve seen them use those perches in at least six months.
OMC! Puck, you are too funny, but you look all comfy in the warm folded laundry. It must be a cat thing, Yum Yum loves warm laundry too, and goes all Elvisy on me if I try to fold it before she is through.
As a child we had no pets, although I loved animals. They do take a lot of care, and my parents didn’t like cats, especially. I sure could have used a furry friend, and cats are better pets for kids, I think, because they are a little easier to care for than dogs. Ah well. Now, there will always be furpersons in our family.
But one of the few compensations for this was that I got to burrow into the warm laundry when I was a toddler. Then I got too big.
I also note that hospitals now have blanket warming chambers. Someone figured out how comforting a warm blanket can be when you are anxious and/or in pain.
Finally: Georgia, BCN is always as comforting as a basket of warm laundry!
Ahhhhh indeed Puck :) I often find my two curled up on top of the warm laundry or even better for them, on top of the operating dryer with just dried towels to curl up in.
This strip really hit the spot today as we woke up to snow!!! It’s not much, maybe 5-6 cm but it is not normal for the PNW especially in early November. The boys went out on the back deck this morning and screeched to halt on seeing the white stuff on their usual bird watching spots. They’re moping on the window shelf now :)
O’Malley (not Fido <<) can’t resist the fresh laundry basket. Just have to be sure to remove the fabric softener sheet first — she also likes to chew things that are not good for kitty tum-tums.
Hi, I’m Shaunnmunn’s Sis. She is forcing me to get my own subscription (and nagging me over the shoulder!!!!) so I can join in on the fun. Hi Georgia. Love you and the whole clan. p.s. Don’t believe everything Shaunn tells you.
Yes, she really, really, really has a gift- an appealing and whimsical style, an utterly original perspective on everyday situations, and the storytelling ability to pull it all together. I am grateful she shares it, and doubly grateful she hung in there, not giving up despite some formidable obstacles. I especially enjoy hunting out the little Easter egg touches.
Our big male cat loves to stretch out on top of the dryer on cold winter days. I’m sure he feels it’s a sauna, personally stoked by human servants who fuel it with damp clothing.
We had a lovely tortie that loved warm laundry. She knew that it came from the dryer and would wait near it, when running, for us to open the door so she could leap and and bask. She also loved suanas: sitting near the tub as we showered to enjoy the steam. Her brother, on the other hand, would just get in the shower with us.

Second best is to be between still-warm sheets while someone is trying to make the bed with them.

Cooking tip, people!
For those of you that aren’t totally turned off by Pumpkin Spice.
I just got finished baking some Pumpkin Spice Snickerdoodles. Turned out GREAT!
All i did was substitute Pumpkin Pie Spice for the Cinnamon in the Cinnamon Sugar you roll them in before cooking.

Off topic but you want to see this—especially in the Northwest: https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/guys-rescued-2000-cats-trees-just-love-cats/
These guys are Sierra Hotel. If I’m ever in their area, I’ll find them and buy them a beer, or whatever they’re drinking. Our kind of people.

My Smedley was always warming up on the fresh laundry. I have a large photo of a very contented kitty laying on the laundry in my living room.
