1.Finally we get a nice guy teacher at Michael’s school. After Mr. Warren who mocked the students and beat his head against the wall when he was frustrated, I had begun to wonder if it would ever happen.
2.A blackboard! I remember those! That takes me back. Clapping erasers. Chalk on the fingers.
The nicest teacher I had was Mr. Shailor, my high school English teacher. One morning I had found out that a dear friend of mine had committed suicide. I tried to keep it together, but when I got to my English class & Mr. Shailor asked me if anything was wrong, I just burst into tears. He actually took me out into the hall and let me cry on his shoulder until I was all cried out, which took most of the period. He knew my friend; was his teacher the year before.
So often cartoons depict our teachers as the enemy. In my experience, most have been fair, kind, responsible and considerate…while trying to simply do their job! I owe my thanks to teachers who did more than just teach me; they brought me up—through all my growing years and well into my adult life.
Remember when the teacher had a problem with me and had to stay after school and clean erasers under the stage floor in the gymnasium(the school had a specially made ‘vacuum cleaner’ for cleaning erasers) ! ! ! !
Martha just dodged a bullet, however… now everyone in the class, even those sitting in the back row, knows the note was intended for Michael. Let the rumours begin flying.
Wow, what a nice teacher! He makes the difference between a teacher who is liked by his students, and one who is not. Just a small thing. Pay attention, all you mean teachers out there!
Well, the teacher saw Martha trying to pass the note to Michael, and that called the attention of everybody else in the classroom. So, it’s no secret that Martha intended the note for Michael.
I remember one teacher who didn’t just read the note, she read it in front of the class! Most of the time they weren’t so bad, just one friend asking another friend if they were going to hang out after school so it wasn’t that much to be embarrassed about.

Good for Mr. Warren. Reading the note out loud would have been excessively cruel.

Martha needs to get better friends.

Glad Mr. Burton had some pity on her and didn’t read the note aloud. Perhaps this is a sign Martha’s luck has changed? (probably not)
