Well, we could say this is a primitive form of recycling …although I’m not certain if it is Elly or Farley who is putting an otherwise wasted resource to reuse.
First, I noticed that the only thing in my local daily paper that I was actually reading was the comics – the news, weather, etc. I could get faster, easier, and more up-to-date on the Internet. (And a broader range of viewpoints to think about.)
Second, I noticed that I could read my favorite comic strips, and avoid the others, on the Internet. For free.
I’ve stopped reading the newspaper because a third grader could write the report better and with fewer mistakes. It is quite unnerving of how bad journalist (and I use that word loosely) have gotten. If they can string a couple of sentences together, a newspaper will hire them and then put them on the front page. I have a passion for the written word, and I guess it shows.
Six spam messages in a row, all from the same “user”– c’mon, Go Comics, you should at least have some anti-flood filters in place! Jeeze.
As for newspapers vs Internet…just keep in mind that the Internet has much of the same content you were once paying for, and it’s not gotten any cheaper to provide…

Since the dog saw more of the paper than Elly, maybe he should be in that class.

Third, I cancelled my newspaper subscription.
End of story.

I canceled my paper because the delivery person couldn’t seem to find my house.
