I must confess that now we bring ours up from the basement in its box. (Our ‘live’ one died after about 10 years of being brought inside for a month the being exiled for 11 months to regrow!) The boxed one does have sentimental value in that it’s some 50 years old and belonged to my parents – so it brings back memories of Christmas past, along with dreams of Christmas Future with the grand-kids, who don’t really notice provided there flashing lights and gifts around it.
With the army of cats, we hadn’t put up a tree until this year. At the better half’s suggestion, I cut a tree out of a pallet & used a slat cut in half to keep it upright. It’s not great, but it does look pretty good for a first try!

If you did that now, you might get arrested for poaching a tree on government land or private property.

Christmas Eve?! Ours goes up the weekend after Thanksgiving and it stays up until after New Years day. It’s too pretty not to leave up for a month.
