Congressmen and Senators have office budgets of tens of thousands and staff to see that it is spent. They also do not deal daily with children(not all but a few) whose parents have to choose between housing and school supplies. And sometimes they have to choose between housing and food. And these legislators only see the “Oh, look at all the benefits teachers get.”
As a teacher, every year something new would be cut from my budget and more money would come out of pocket so as to buy what I needed for my social science and behavior disorder kids. So, I came to depend on those allowable deductions for partial reimbursement. Many teachers do with so many states now stealing from school budgets due to mismanagement and loyalty to the Koch brothers as is the case with our Gov. Brownback. We definitely need to bring our “A” game to the polls and stop this evil travesty. Our kids need us for today and for their future.
