Happy New Year everyone. I am continually delighted by the kitty costumes but today Lupin wins the prize for over the top hats, so adorable.

Puck’s resolution is quite realistic.

This will be the first year since i have moved into my home that the idiot and their fireworks are not going to bother me.

I only have one client tomorrow, in the PM.

I can sleep in as long as it takes to get over the interruption to my sleep.

I knew some party hats had to be involved in this. At least Lupin is enjoying his more than the Boys did at Halloween.

The Boys in boneless sleep are hilarious. There is nothing so relaxed as a sleeping cat.

I think the last New Year’s Eve do I ever went to was a run around a park followed by hot chocolate and door prizes. I won a pair of socks, the two men who did the whole run carrying a canoe over their heads won a couple of tracksuits.

In the 28 years since, we’ve been quite happy to avoid the manic partying and taxi shortages by staying home and going to bed by 10:00 p.m..

Good morning and Happy New Year to Georgia and her family and furbabies, and too all the rest of the orbsters and orbabies out there! May 2018 be kind to all of us, and may this strip continue to bring joy and solace to all of us. Orb bumps to all.

Ahhhh, Puck in his white tux and spiffy boutonniere. Always the well dressed cat. Not that Elvis and Lupin aren’t smartly dressed but there’s something about white tails …

I’d like to end the year with a “Thank You!”. First, to Georgia for creating BCN, to Puck, Lupin, and Elvis for providing inspiration, also the Man, the Toddler, and the Baby for adding to the mix. What a wonderful world you all have given us. Next, let me thank all the BCN readers. When I was young, we used to corral the cats and give them a Happy New Year kiss at midnight. She Who Owned Me would look at me and demand I go to bed because she is exhausted.

Excessive freckles run in my family, though I only inherited a moderate amount. So I associate excessive freckles with family/home/familiarity. I didn’t realize it until I was an adult and living in a new place and meeting lots of new people. Any freckled person I met, I immediately felt like they were dear close friends. I had to remind myself, “No, you’re at a new job and you just met this new co-worker. S/he’s not one of your cousins. Dial it down a little, or people are going to think you’re creepy.”

How many hats can Lupin wear? Start a pool! :D

I heard Puck say BACON. Yep tonight there will be BACON for me and the dog and kitties then peanut butter, Prozac and Xanax for the dog. We hate fireworks in this house. They are even illegal but that doesn’t stop anybody. Hope everyone has a Happy New Year. I’ll be here with a cowering unhappy Weimaraner if I can’t get the Xanax in him soon enough but I never know when the idiots will start and don’t want to give the boy too much. Such is life hoe yours is better than mine tonight.

Everybody will wake up at about 1:15, when the wood stove needs a refill. (or the man will get nudged off the couch.)

To Georgia and her family both 2-and-4-legged types, and to the BCN-loving family here: Happy New Year, and may 2018 be the best year yet. Oh, and to Gent: Happy New Bear. :)

I had a delightful visit with my nephew-in-love today. He is turning out to be a fine, upstanding man. I feel honored that he adopted me as his aunt.

Asking for prayers for my nephew and his girlfriend, please. They’re stuck in standstill traffic on an extremely icy mountain road. (It was fine when they went out, but it got bad so fast that the salt trucks haven’t even gotten to the main roads, yet.) At 18 and 17, they don’t have much experience driving in bad weather, and they’re both nervous as they can be right now.
