I wonder when the change over from “Spanish onions” to simply “Yellow onions” occurred? I went out and did a search because I had never heard of the Spanish onion… it’s simply a yellow one :-P

FYI: People in my hometown called some Sloppy Joe mixture of burger and spices ‘Spanish Hamburger’ before Sloppy Joe became popular. Spanish Hamburger sounded exotic.
