I’m thinkin’ Alan and I are about the same age - and I can tell you there were no classy girls as we moved through the transition from Disco to New Wave. It was all fun all the time!!!

RCMinor, maybe Annie doesn’t wear a wig for the same reason my aunt never wore a wig after she lost her hair to chemo. She said the wig was hot, itchy, didn’t stay on properly sometimes and looked fake. Or maybe Annie just likes looking different.

Anyone know? I started reading the strip after Annie was introduced, so I’m not sure.

When Lila first met Annie, she was wearing a long, black wig and called herself Elizabeth Barrett after the poet because, being an orphan, she didn’t like that her name was the same as Lilttle Orphan Annie. Lila convinced her that there were other great Annie’s and that she should be herself. And with that, her wig came off. Personally, I don’t think a little kid should wear a wig and most childlren with Leukemia don’t.

Wigs fall off when you run and jump and play. Good wigs take a lot of maintenance and are expensive. They aren’t really practical for children.
