Interestingly, the local paper recently included a photo taken by someone with their phone of a small herd of white tail deer at wood’s edge by the side of the road which included an all black fawn (supposedly very rare) and an albino fawn (still rare but somewhat less so). The fact that one group of deer had one of each was really against the odds. The person taking the photo said they thought at first the black fawn was a goat, but was able to get a little closer to the group to confirm that it was a deer.

And we do have a lot of them around here. Which I have a fence around my yard. A very high fence.

The coyotes keep the deer out of the back yard.

The biggest reason I stopped hunting was because I got tired of seeing white tails disappear into the bushes.

They say that everything’s bigger in Texas. Well, just about. In South-Central Texas the deer are definitely smaller than good healthy Iowa deer.
