I don’t see how it could be worse.
If it had rhymed, it would have been verse.
If it was wool, it could have been worsted.
I suppose it really depends upon divine judgement…
Better ones would be, “He doesn’t bite.” or “It’s just a flesh wound.”
Once when I was feeling depressed a friend said “Cheer up, it could be worse”. So I cheered up and sure enough, things got worse.
Add the date for clarification. If it is anywhere since 2020, then I’d reply: “Yes; you could still be on Earth”
