I don’t miss it. I remember standing in line at the register behind over 50 people, just to have the overworked cashier close it and go on break when I finally got to the front. The long line that had built up behind me all jumped to the other long lines, and I was stuck behind them.
Just part of changing times. Once, we had neighborhood stores, but they died out when ‘downtowns’ with lots of big stores evolved. Then came the malls, and the downtowns lost out. Now, everyone shops from home in their PJs (or less) and they don’t have to worry about road rage from people angry over parking spaces…
I never knew there were malls in the middle ages, and they got less crowded because people those times began shopping from homes (this must be when the door to door salespeople business began booming in the middle ages).
I love Hybrid shopping! Figure out what you want online, find out who has it locally and go armed with the URL if you need a price match. I get the same good price, I get it that day, and I support local business! Win!
Since I stopped shopping at the Malls and big discount stores and do all my holiday shopping on line, I haven’t had one single Christmas cold. I got sick EVERY year from the crowds.

People still shop in malls in Aus … The free air-conditioning is a real bonus with Christmas Down Under falling in summer.
