This is classic Big Nate. 10/10.

New profile pic which was Gollum’s idea but I think this might be the first time Nate hadn’t looked at pickles and spitsy playing and hadn’t experienced cringe

It’s just so Nate that he asked for a dog again this year. Marty doesn’t understand when Nate says Spitsy is different.

It’s clear that Marty doesn’t know that Spitsy isn’t much fun. I like how goofy Spitsy is though.

I happen to like Spitsy. He is such a pathetic excuse for a dog that he cracks me up! But he is also talented like when he knit Nate a sweater with a bone on it, and extremely clumsy, like when he got stuck in a basketball hoop. Overall he is a good loyal dog with a few quirky and less than ideal traits, but he loves Nate (and pickles too!). Also the face Nate made just cracks me up, the hairy eyeball or whatever.

The reason Martin would think it’s cute is because he has both seen and (probably) experienced love before. When he sees affection between Spitsy and Pickles it would remind him of “the good old days” (that adults always talk about). The problem with kids nowadays is that they are rarely exposed to any public displays of affection such that they are disgusted by it. When kids are little, they will play with children of the opposite sex, but when they get older, it feels shameful for them to even look at one of their classmates of the opposing sex. In high school, students will then instantly be exposed to all sorts of displays of affection, which makes it seem like they have to get a girlfriend/boyfriend to be “cool”.

Same old thing.

Dog is man’s best friend, cat is dog’s best friend.

If Nate ever does get a dog one day, that would be an interesting storyline.

I shudder at what their kids would look like.

I never knew Teddy’s stance in the dog/cat arguments before.

Just letting everyone know I may not be able too comment after Jan 1st, I’m on vacation and I don’t know if our place has wifi

I grew up with German Shepherds. They always played with the cats, slept with the cats, ate with the cats, etc. so I don’t see anything weird about Spitsy and Pickles playing.

Who thinks that Nate should get a dog. Personally I think he should because then we could get some different Christmas arcs
