It depends on whether Larry gets paid for being there. If he is a salesman on commission, an unproductive day may not pay that much. For many of us, getting paid and not burning vacation would be incentive enough.
One of my wife’s recent job offers wanted her to start after the holiday break, so she would have been unemployed for an extra three weeks! New job pays better and started two weeks ago.

There will only be about 4 people when I come back to work. Counting myself.
The rest of them took annual leave. But I prefer to jump straight back into work and take annual leave later.
