How's your neighborhood newspaper coming along? Good. I'll read you what I have so far. Hendersons divorcing. Floozy and Mr. Henderson suspected in extramarital affair. Do you think it's wise to print that? Sure, sex sells.
Uhm, I’m not quite comfortable hearing a kid saying “Sex sells”… I find this strip a tad inappropriate. I’m no bigot, it’s just that I didn’t expect such a sentence in this context. Feels weird.

I think the column in Opie’s paper was “Mayberry After Midnight” and, if memory serves, it was written by a budding Walter Winchell named Red.

I certainly wasn’t saying anything like that at his age, and I grew up in the 60’s. Neither did my friends.
