What an odd childhood I had. I didn’t feel in a hurry to leave - and I didn’t feel anxious when the time came (at 18). It was all good and still is 30+ years later.
But if this kid thinks he’s sticking around till 30, he’s got another thing coming to him.

I left home at 17. It was a good home and I was happy there, but the Marine Corps was calling my name. Signed up for 3 years in ‘64 right out of high school. Went to Vietnam ’66-’67. I was a Sergeant when my enlistment was up.
