When we were in elementary, principals could still paddle the kids. My older brother came home one day and told mom he got paddled. She replied, “I know, Mr Bollen called before”, and paddled him again.
The information in this strip, again, is false. It is impossible to travel at the speed of light as it is the fastest thing we know in the universe. The average speed of a six year old child is around six miles per hour. Therefore, it is impossible for Calvin to travel as fast as a light particle. He did get one thing right though; there are such things as light particles. Isaac Newton argued that the geometric nature of reflection and refraction of light could only be explained if light was made of particles, referred to as corpuscles, because waves do not tend to travel in straight lines. Newton sought to disprove Christiaan Huygens’ theory that light was made of waves but to no avail. Newton imagined that matter is made of particles ofsome kind (today we would call them molecules or atoms). When alight particle is deep within a medium, such as water or glass, it issurrounded on all sides by equal numbers of these particles.Suppose there is an attractive force between the light particles andthe matter particles. Then deep within a medium, these forcescancel each other out and there is no net force on the light particle. Because of all of this imformation, it official makes the comic strip of Calvin and Hobbes irrelevant. We also know that the average speed of an adult female is ten miles per hour. Thus making it impossible to escape from his mother’s grasps. This Calvin and Hobbes strip is, therefore, not funny
@Andrewenns Road Runner cartoons must give you a nervous breakdown! If you’re not joshing us, please take a breath and relax. Your knowledge is valuable, but misplaced. No analytical skill will ever get Bugs Bunny’s creators to explain how a rabbit can possibly lead a symphony orchestra. A willing suspension of disbelief is required. But I’m sure you know all this and are just being a wag! :-)

So, Calvin is only going 165,000 mps, with a burst of photons he can push it up to 186,000 mps and outrun mom.
