Ah, the joys of apartment living. I just take it out to the dumpster whenever I need to and forget about it — no need to worry about missing the pickup!
We have leash laws in my neighborhood; usually works. We still have to use locking lids though; Opposums and raccoons will still get into plastic garbage bags.
We don’t have pick-up. We have to take our own garbage to the landfill a couple of towns away. No loose dogs in our town because of leash laws, but there are many feral cats who love to rip up the garbage bags when you aren’t looking. Crows are the worst, and attack in daylight, just before the truck shows up. (usually late).
The idea for this toon must have come to Johnston while she was living in Lynn Lake,Manitoba since I can’t imagine a bedroom community of Toronto having stray, starving dog problems, but 1 can for a weeks worth of garbage in the time before recycling?
Here we have a very successful dentist, who is too cheap to buy good trash cans, and too absent minded to not put out the trash bags till pickup time or realize today is not pickup day. Only in the comics. Also very old story line as almost all trash companies provide large plastic trash cans that are picked up by The Claw.
That’s the one thing I’m gratful for in my city. We have daily garbage pickup – including Sundays ! If you missed the morning collection, there’s also one tha comes round during the night.
